BARLEY'S LINKS
Here are links that are of value to me. Some may appeal to you. At any rate, they'll give you an idea of where I spend my "spare" time. TRS-80 Revived: Ira Goldklang's site; history, images, downloads, links.
Club 100: supports the first laptop, the Tandy Model 100: 8K of RAM, 2.4 MHz clock, and an internal 300 baud modem. We love these machines! OPERA: my browser of choice AVANT: a skin for Internet Explorer. I gotta admit, if I weren't so committed to Opera, this program would take the prize. It's free; try it! POCOMAIL: Tired of viruses? Want more features? TRILLIAN: one program that monitors all of the instant messaging networks simultaneously. AVG ANTIVIRUS: free suite of antivirus programs; highly rated SPYBOT: free program to remove spyware Lizard Hill Web Hosting: if you need a web site, here is good service at low prices. SpeedGuide: learn to make your computer and Internet connection faster PC Pitstop: free tweaks to improve performance
Accuracy in Academia: some colleges are great repositories of idiocy. This site documents it. Bias in the Academy: Frontpage magazine's articles about left wing extremism on college campuses. Ann Coulter: wimps beware! Chronicles of Culture: erudite, radical, finds the flaws in everyone. Foundation for Economic Education: nice folks who believe the government should leave us alone. Center for the Study of the Great Ideas: they believe that the great books of the western world are worth reading and discussing. Intercollegiate Studies Institute: for students and faculty; scholarly approaches to current themes. Radical Academy: "radical" means that they believe in logic and consistency, as in Aristotle. Romantics need not click. Townhall: links to nearly every conservative site known to man.
Frontpage: former Marxist revolutionary turns his guns on America's enemies; not a pretty sight.
Origins Christianity Today Online: there's something for everybody here. This is ordinary evangelical Christianity, but sometimes they lean to the left on social issues and sometimes they give too much credit to those who teach a distorted Christianity. This site is accurate concerning the way of salvation (how to go to Heaven when you die). Crown Financial Ministries: biblical principles for financial freedom; recommended. Focus on the Family: James Dobson, doctor of psychology; help for families in difficult days. This is the most popular ministry in America. Virtual Religion Index at Rutgers University: massive index of scholarly resources, including a lot of paganism and liberalism. Philip R. Johnson's Bookmarks: a very comprehensive and often humorous collection of URLs and Johnson's commentaries. Don't miss his list of "Bad Theology," "Very Bad Theology," and "Very, Very Bad Theology," even though I'm sure that he'd include me if he knew about me. The Ecole Initiative: hypertext encyclopedia of early church history Center for Reformed Theology: an example of Calvinism, which is the doctrine that Christ died only for the chosen ones and did not provide an opportunity for the rest of humanity to be saved. Wesley Center for Applied Theology: an example of Arminian/Methodist theology, which holds that Christ died to provide the opportunity of salvation to everyone, and not only to the chosen few. Bibles.net: an awesome site for Bible translations and reference material.
Leadership U., Theology: in-depth material directed toward intelligent college students. Choose to Save: learn the secret of living on less than you make True Catholic: did you know that the real pope doesn't live in Rome? He lives in Springdale, Washington. Here's his picture as he stands by the chicken wire fence. I am not making this up. MY SCHOOLS Bob Jones University: my alma mater where I learned that truth matters more than emotions. Wesley Biblical Seminary: where I learned that holiness matters more than anything; the happiest days of my life were spent here earning the M.Div degree. Reformed Theological Seminary: they and I were on opposite sides of the fence on some points, but I never found fault with my education there. Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (just pronounce the acronymn "mabbits"): here I earned the Ph.D. Having labored there for so many years, I tend to say that they didn't graduate me, but paroled me for good behavior. Christian Brothers University: I have taught here as an adjunct, teamed up with the nicest folks I've ever had the privilege to work alongside of. |
